This is a fantastic guide to how to read the bible both old and New Testament Probably not for beginners but people who want to be able to read and analyse the bible on their own in conjunction with commentaries it teaches you what you need to know in order to be able to study the bible independently It goes through the different genres in the bible law poetrymetersmparables etc and how we need to approach each genre differently and I found that particularly helpful Everyone I have spoken to who has read this book from friends to ministers has been full of praise for it The authors also wrote the less well known how to read the bible book by book which I am going to try next
